FINALLY, I’m finished my first children’s picture book!! The cover was the last thing to do, and it left my studio a couple of days ago.
Published by Henry Holt, it will be out in the spring of 2008. Very exciting.
No sneak peaks - I’ll keep you updated.
ICON5 Recap

It’s just over a month now that the ICON5 conference has come and gone. Being on the board was quite an experience and one that I will never forget. Having the opportunity to work closely with my peers and to be able to meet so many of my heroes made it all worthwhile.
Highlights:
- Getting to know everyone on the board…
- Nancy Stahl! I wish you lived in Toronto.
- Running around Brooklyn and Manhattan with my pal and Co-Chair of Events Fernanda Cohen.
- Ross MacDonald.
- Martha Rich, she kicks ass.
- Isabelle Dervaux = Superwoman.
- Mark Heflin, I have never met anyone so positive.
- Our amazing volunteers.
- Embarrassed myself by emitting a seal-like bark when I met Katherine Streeter.
- The barbeque at Sean Qualls and Selina Alko’s place.
- Meeting the fellas from the Half-Tones; Barry Blitt, Joe Ciardiello, Robert Saunders, James Steinberg and Michael Sloan.
- Lauren Simkin Berke,Nora Krug, Steven Guarnaccia, Warren Linn, Jean Tuttle, Thorina Rose…
- The parties at the New York Times, the Jonathan Levine gallery…
- The realization that Robert Zimmerman rocks the casbah (he’s a real firecracker) - and that man can dance.
- Dinners after 10pm with Martha Rich, Julie Murphy, Jude Buffum, Peter Brown, Gina + Matt, Chrystal Falcioni, Edel Rodriguez, Paul Dallas, Marcos Chin, Mark Heflin and countless others…
- Meeting and making so many new illustrator friends that I really couldn’t write them all here. Running around with my best pal Sandra Dionisi at the final party, where I danced off the stress of the whole thing… It was a great night, it was a great few days!
Good-bye ICON5!
